Below are some coverage definitions to help you understand your auto policy better:

Bodily Injury Liability & Property Damage- Pays on your behalf for the other person’s injuries or death and their property damage.  Your liability coverage will also pay your legal defenses if you are sued. (State of Ohio requirement)

Medical Payments – Covers medical expenses for injuries sustained by you, residents of your household and other people in your auto as a result of an accident.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists- Provides coverage when an insured is injured in an accident caused by another person who either has no insurance or who carries liability limits which are insufficient to pay for damages.

Comprehensive Coverage- Sometimes called other than collision (OTC), this coverage pays for incidents such as theft, fire, vandalism, hail, falling objects, or hitting an animal.

Collision Coverage – Collision pays for repairs to your car when it hits another vehicle, crash into something, or turn a vehicle over.

Rental Expense– Provides insurance on private passenger rental vehicles.

Towing– Covers the cost of towing a vehicle involved in an accident.

Lease/Loan Gap– pays the difference between what you owe on your vehicle and what your insurance pays if your vehicle is declared a total loss, or stolen and not recovered, less your Comprehensive or Collision deductible.
