Overview of Ohio’s Workers Compensation
Ohio is one of four remaining Monopolistic States that requires Workers Compensation Coverage be provided exclusively by that State’s Designated Workers Compensation program. There are several discount options available, the most common of which is group rating and is described below.How to Apply - You must apply directly through the state either by completing the Ohio BWC U-3 , or online at:
Select a Managed Care Organization (MCO) – Once you have applied, and received your policy, you must select a Managed Care Organization within 30 days. We recommend selecting CareWorks, MCO #10010, as they are the largest MCO in the state, and they are #1 in return to work performance. blank Group Rating Programs – You are eligible to receive a discount of up to 53% in the future by joining a Group Rating program. Group experience rating plans are sponsored by an organization and allows employers who operate similar businesses to group together to potentially achieve lower premium rates. blank PIA – Group Rating Program Our group program is sponsored through Professional Insurance Agents Association of Ohio, Inc. (PIA) and administered by CompManagement, Inc. It is one of the largest and most successful plans in the state. We offer savings, consistency and stability to your business.
